Artists Craig Wheatley and Joby Williamson have taken the Great Eastern
Hotel as their reference point for a series of pieces that make reference
both to the hotel's heritage and its present day-to-day existence.
They have produced both collaborative and individual work, which is shown in
various parts of the hotel, concentrating on the main Lobby, the Gallery
(atrium), George (the pub) and the GE Club.
Craig Wheatley, using mainly print, investigates notions of reproduction,
whilst Joby Williamson has extended his practice of hunting and hoarding to
uncover some strange rituals.
Sometimes playful, other times subtle, RE:TROSPECTIVE questions the identity
and purpose of a busy hotel.
